met online in January of 2001, on a chat, gaming and bulletin board website where I was a sysop and he was a newbie. A mutual friend introduced us, since she had a crush on him and wanted my opinion on the guy! We were both seeing other people casually at the time, and became friends who loved to chat online and hang out in muds and on IRC together. We really complimented each other and had so much in common that a bond was quickly forged.
Eventually our relationships fell away and we were left with each other. We started chatting on the phone, and from the first time I heard his voice, I think we both knew it was meant to be. Our hearts fluttered, then thumped, and before long we couldn't stay apart any longer.
In Summer of 2001 we met in real life for the first time. Over the fourth of July weekend, Richard met my parents, and we'd moved in together. By the beginning of August we were engaged, and on November 21st of that same year we were married. I'd always claimed I was *never* getting married, but what can I say, I was helpless in the thrall of his charms! The truth is, we knew we were soulmates within a few weeks of meeting one another. It seems to others like we rushed things, but to us the progress seemed perfectly normal. Sometimes, you just know you've met the person you were born to be with.
On May 3, 2002 Richard and I moved to Canada, his country of birth. We settled in a small town in northern Alberta. After spending far too long renting, in April of 2004 we bought our first home.
We happily live there now with our family of furkids; Oscar who has been my cat for about 15 years, our fluffy little shih tzu Ivy who joined the family in 2004, our sweet girl cat Nala, who has been with us since 2005, and her kitten, fluffy baby George who came along about a year later. You can see pictures of us and our furbabies in the photo album section of this website.
We are bereaved parents, having lost our sweet, beautiful, and much longed for baby daughter in December of 2007. We will always love you Grace. You can visit our memorial page for grace here.
was born in south suburban Chicago. After college at Northern Illinois University and Columbia, she lived in Chicago for a while before moving to West Virginia in 2000 to work for a publishing company there. Currently, she freelances from home. Someday she'll write the Great Canadian novel.
Her addictions include divine bath products, particularly from Lush, books, and great coffee. She also loves creating art, needlework, street fairs, road trips, gardening, antiques, movies, poetry, jazz music, music from the 60's, long skirts, toe rings, writing, and Japanese culture. She bakes bread and muffins, loves to cook, and pretends occasionally that she lives in a sixties sitcom as a happy housewife.
was born in the Northwest Territories of Canada. His birth certificate is in Eskimo, which made for an interesting afternoon when trying to get a marriage license in Chicago! He currently works in the offices of a large Oilfield company and has been going to college for the last three years, studying computer science. Graduation day is soon - April 2008!
Richard is hopelessly addicted to Pepsi and Mountain Dew, and thinks his wife's coffee is unbelievably vile. He also loves rock and alternative music, novels, programming, road trips, pizza, Pringles, roleplay games, online strategy games, movies, writing and poetry.
