Livejournal Book Tour

My theme for the book on this project was "Marriage".  Exploring the field of marriage is still fairly new to me; I feel like a honeymooner even though Richard and I have been married almost three years now.  I chose a spiral bound blank journal for this project.  The cover had a lavender floral motif, which I quite liked so I left it fairly alone, adding a vintage lace band (from my grandmother's sewing box, most of the contents of which I have) across the cover and a metal quote from Making Memories.  The quote reads "Love is Life's greatest joy".  My information tag was made of white cardstock with a button (again from my grandmother's sewing supplies) attached to the binding of the book with embroidery floss.  It can tuck behind the lace band, used as a bookmark inside of the book, or left loose outside of the book this way.

Inside I wrote about my experiences in being married, including on the first page one of our wedding pictures:

This more graphic oriented page includes a photograph of Richard and I taken earlier this year, and changed to sepia tones with graphic editing:

I also included a timeline of our relationship together, and what sharing memories in a marriage means to me:

This book was a blank journal with no theme - what a challenge!  I only did one non-writing based layout in this book - the first one with a theme of travel.  The rest of the pages were pure journaling... as such these may not be the most exciting pages to look at, but I've put them here nonetheless as a record of this project.

The theme for this book was "Social Justice".  Meep!  I had some worries that I'd be able to do anything meaningful on the topic, especially since the book belonged to an extremely intelligent woman.  I finally decided to go for simplicity; four pages, each one based on something that was meaningful to me personally in my life in regards to social justice; something that had touched my heart, or awoken a spirit in me.  I wound up with the ERA, Legalization of gay marriage in Canada, Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, and the events in Tiananmen Square, China.

Similar to my problem in the Lush November group, I found myself working in a book that was going to go back to the owner after my work as they were dropping out of the circle.  It always makes it a little bit harder for me to work on a book when I'm suspecting that something like that is coming, but again I did my best.

This book wasn't themed, so I based my layouts on what I knew of the person who owned the book.  Unfortunately... that wasn't a lot.  Her LJ nickname was "ghetto girl" so that was where the first layout came from.  The tagline on the first page was the subtitle of her journal, and on the second page I included some of my favourite quotes from her journal:

The second two pages were based on music I knew she loved, first from her childhood, secondly from a current favourite band:

The theme for this book was "Love Letters".  It took me some time to decide who to write to... there are many people I could write letters to, but most of them wouldn't be about love!  After a bit of thought, I decided on my friend Mandy, my inlaws, and my husband:

This book belonged to my mom, so I knew I had to do a good job!  The theme was travel, and the more I thought about it the more I realized that I didn't have a lot to write about in regards to travel in her book; Most everywhere I've been she's been, or has already heard all my stories about!  As such, most of my pages here are more symbolic than literal writing on travel:

The last book of the circle!  I had a bit of a hard time deciding what to do with this book.  The theme was coffee and/or vintage.  Other sections were related to people's passions; a post-card collector with vintage post cards, a person who sewed on vintage fashion and so on, so I decided on "Vintage Verses" since poetry is one of my passions.  I selected verses mainly from the Victorian Era, which is one of my very favourites:
